Goofy Interview after Surfing

On the Wall with Miranda
Wow.  I just checked in on myself on Google to see if my new LinkedIn profile has started to show up.  Looks like it hasn't for some reason. I stumbled upon this oldie but goody. After a surf session back in college, I was approached by a local reporter to do an interview for the Portsmouth (NH) Herald.  They wanted to ask me all sorts of questions about the day, recent hurricane activity, and surfing in general.  Then they took all sorts of pictures of me doing goofy stuff.  Luckily this one didn't turn out so bad. Here is a small snippet: J.L. STEVENS: So Isabel didn’t work out for you? TED BARBEAU: Well, not today. It was fine before. Tuesday was big. I heard Wednesday was pretty good, too. But today kind of faded out on us. J.L.: Do you have any nicknames for the sea? TED: Well, we call them tasty waves, that’s about it. J.L.: Do you have a nickname? TED: Rip Shredwell. That’s my new nickname. J.L.: What’s your old nickname? TED: Awww, you don’t want to know that one. Talk about embarrassing.  You can read the entire interview here.

Photo of the Day: Dog Days of Summer (Indi)

Dog Days of Summer
The most recent New England snowfall has me wishing for warmer summer days.  I really thought we were out of the woods before last night.  I know it's only early March - but I'm desperately looking forward to springtime. I decided to go back and flip thru some of my summer pictures from 2007 on Flickr.  This shot is of a good friend's dog named Indi.  She's a gorgeous brindle boxer that is as personable as any dog I've ever met. Can't wait for more days like this...

Things I Love: Instapaper

Instapaper If you're looking for an amazing application for your iPhone or computer, look no further than Instapaper.  It's a wonderful tool that helps bridge the gap between your home computer, work computer and mobile device. Here's how it works: If I'm perusing the web and come across an article I'm interested in reading later, I simply click the bookmarklet labeled "Read Later," which uploads my article into Instapapers cloud and allows me to access from any computer.  More importantly, it's easily accessible thru their free iPhone application.  This is an incredible time saver when it comes to my daily train commute.  It also allows me to never miss an important piece of content. It's one of my favorite new applications and one that I use multiple times a day.  Go get it!

Photo of the Day - Dream Sky

Dream Sky
Here's another picture from my trip to Tortola over New Year's.  It's a shot that was taken from a ferry between Peter Island and Tortola.  It was shot at super high ISO (1600 ISO) and then processed a bit to bring out some of the underlying tones and colors.

Things I Love - Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA

Dogfish Head's 90 Minute IPA
Ahhhhhhh...is there anything better than cracking open a frosty brew to wash down a meal or top off a killer day of work?  I think not. If I'm pulling just one beer out of the fridge, it's got to be a Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. Hoppy as hell with a touch of sweetness.  It currently headlines my top 5 beer list, and I don't see it falling off anytime soon. What's your favorite sippin' beer?

Photo of the Day - Lamb Chop

Lamb Chop over Minty Parmesan Risotto w/Asparagus
Another passion of mine is cooking.  Luckily for me, my partner-in-crime (Jamie) also loves to mix it up in the kitchen.  She was taught a good amount by her mother growing up, so I'm still playing catch up. This is an old picture (and in need of some Aperture-love), but it was a lamb chop over a minty parmesan risotto with a side of asparagus.  Probably the most restaurant-caliber meal we've cooked to date. Let me know if you want either recipe.

Reebok SmoothFit Select Ride

Reebok SmoothFit Select Ride
Check out our new technology.  Here's a good blog post about the new shoes we have coming out this spring. As many of you know, I work in brand marketing at Reebok.  I'll try to keep my work specific stuff to a minimum, but want to make sure I'm bringing some of our cooler products to your attention as we get ready to release them. From our press release back in January: "Reebok’s SmoothFit Select Ride is like no other athletic shoe on the market. With one click of a button that is positioned on the side of the shoe, SmoothFit Select Ride provides the versatility that consumers demand in a performance athletic shoe. By pressing the shoe’s “Run” button and taking a few steps, the wearer will feel the shoe automatically inflate. This causes the cushioning of the shoe to become thicker, creating a soft, smooth ride for runners. By pressing the shoe’s “Train” button, the wearer will feel the shoe release air cushioning. This causes the cushioning of the shoe to become thinner and firmer, providing the ideal stability for training. This unprecedented technology allows consumers to have the ultimate two-in-one performance shoe" Get 'em here.
